Participation of the Accreditation Body of Montenegro in the EA Laboratory Committee Meeting in Tbilisi

Representatives of the Accreditation Body of Montenegro (ATCG) participated in the regular meeting of the EA Laboratory Committee (EA LC), held on March 25 and 26, 2026, in Tbilisi, Georgia. The meeting, chaired by Sergio Guzzi (Accredia) and Belén Villamiel Valdío (ENAC), was dedicated to adopting new guidelines and harmonizing technical requirements in the fields of laboratory testing and calibration.

During the session, significant decisions were made regarding the publication of revised documents, including the EA-4/21 guidelines for assessing small interlaboratory comparisons and the EA-4/20 guidance for assessing laboratories against ISO 15189 and ISO 22870. The Committee also initiated a systematic review of the EA-4/18 G:2021 document, which defines the level and frequency of proficiency testing (PT) participation, and approved the conclusions of workshops focused on scopes of accreditation and subcontracting.

In pursuit of further harmonization, the contents of accreditation scopes related to specific legislation were confirmed, and a continuation of professional workshops was announced for September 2026 in Brussels, with a focus on flexible scopes. A particular step forward in technical development is the establishment of a Task Force Group (TFG) for the accreditation of "simulation methods," alongside an analysis of the applicability of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

Active participation in this committee's work enables ATCG to implement the latest European consensuses in laboratory assessment, directly strengthening confidence in the technical competence of the national quality infrastructure.
