Maja Tepavčević, Head of the Department for Inspection Body Accreditation, and Sanja Mićović, Advisor in the Department for Inspection Body Accreditation, represented the Accreditation Body of Montenegro (ATCG) at the Inspection Committee meeting of the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA IC), held on 17–18 September 2026 in Brussels, Belgium.
The main focus was the implementation of the new ISO/IEC 17020:2026 standard. A workshop on the interpretation and practical application of its requirements provided an opportunity to discuss technical issues and harmonise approaches to the assessment of inspection bodies.
The Committee approved a New Work Item Proposal to revise EA-5/02 M: EA Guidance on the Application of ISO/IEC 17020 in Periodic Inspection of the Roadworthiness of Motor Vehicles and their Trailers, to align it with the new requirements of the standard. The Terms of Reference of the Committee’s Technical Network on Car Inspection were also confirmed.
Committee members reviewed the outcomes of the online train-the-trainer workshop on ISO/IEC 17020:2026, held on 1–2 July 2026, and planned further online harmonisation sessions in the coming period.
The meeting also featured presentations by representatives of TIC Council and the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI). Discussions also addressed the applicability of Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI) documents to all types of conformity assessment bodies.
Jasmin Gundlach of the German accreditation body DAkkS was re-elected as Committee Vice-Chair for 2027–2028. She will serve alongside Chair Marek Wilgos of the Polish accreditation body PCA.
The knowledge and information gained from the meeting will support ATCG’s work to align its procedures for accrediting inspection bodies with the new requirements of ISO/IEC 17020.
